Epson has several colour label printer models in its C7500 family, which can lead many business owners in Canada wondering what’s the difference and which model is the best choice for their needs. The Epson TM-C7500 and the Epson TM-C7500G are identical to one another, but they use different types of ink. The Epson TM-C7500 uses Epson SJIC26P pigment ink cartridges (CMYK) and matte label media while the Epson TM-C7500G uses Epson UltraChrome DL pigment inks (CMYK) and glossy label media. Thus, the type of labels they print are different. Once you understand the ink and label types, it’s much easier to determine the best Epson TM-C7500 model for your business.

Both the Epson TM-C7500 and Epson TM-C7500G are high speed industrial-grade label printers designed to print full colour labels at 1200 dpi at a print speed of nearly 60 feet per minute.

Printing Industrial and GHS BS5609 Chemical Label Printing with the Epson TM-C7500

The Epson TM-C7500 is designed for printing industrial and GHS BS5609 chemical labels. It uses pigment inks and matte label stock. Thus, the Epson TM-C7500 is commonly used for warehousing, transportation, logistics, manufacturing, agricultural, and chemical label and barcode applications. These labels must be tough and able to withstand rough handling, (outdoor exposures including harsh weather, UV light, oil, and water), and, in the case of chemical labels, exposure to chemicals and long-term immersion in seawater. The TM-C7500’s pigment inks are designed for use with matte label stock, and when used with our GHS BS5609 label stock, will produce the most durable chemical labels.

Printing High Gloss Food and Product Labels with the Epson TM-C7500G

The “G” in the Epson TM-C7500G stands for “gloss,” and that’s what this label printer is designed for — glossy labels. Like the Epson TM-C7500, the Epson TM-C7500G uses pigment inks, which typically do not bond well with glossy label media. However, the inks used by the Epson TM-C7500G are formulated for use with high gloss label stock, resulting in durable pigment-based printed labels with a glossy finish. Thus, the Epson TM-C7500G is commonly used for printing food and product labels and other labels where durability is desired as well as aesthetics. The Epson TM-C7500G’s inks work great with high gloss paper labels, glossy polypropylene, polyester and clear labels. These are the types of labels used in the food and product packaging business.

Note that the TM-C7500G can also be used to print GHS BS5609 chemical labels. The only difference is that TM-C7500 inks are more durable on GHS BS5609 chemical label stock. So, if you are specifically printing chemical labels and need the utmost durability, then the TM-C7500 matte is best suited to you. All other customers would be better off with the TM-C7500G printer.
